Eating and biking our way through the Americas .... and beyond!

Our tour

Our Aim

An unsupported transcontinental bike tour from Anchorage, Alaska to Tierro del Fuego, Argentina.

The aim is, within reason, to cycle the entire length of the Americas.

We have a rough idea of the route we will be taking and intend to bike through 15 countries: USA, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina!

We think the distance will be roughly 30,000km and we will be carrying all of our gear on our bikes.

We have done short cycle tours (2-3 week trips) in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and Bali, but we have never undertaken a cycle tour on this scale. It is incredibly exciting and a bit daunting at the same time.

Our Motivation

‘You can’t do anything about the length of your life, but you can do something about its width and depth.’ Evan Esar.

Undertaking this trip will be the fulfillment of a dream for us.

Jo’s father died of cancer at the end of 2011.  He was 69 years old and had lots of travels plans that he wasn’t able to fulfill.  After his death, we decided that we didn’t want to wait until we retired to bike the world.
